Pentecost Sunday

This Sunday, May 31 is Pentecost Sunday. We will be celebrating virtual Communion as we gather around the Lord's Table. Pentecost is often called "the birthday of the Christian church" as the disciples received the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit connects us to God and to each other every time that we celebrate the Lord's Supper.

In preparation for the service, you may want to have a piece of bread, or a cracker, or some other solid food to remind you of the body of Christ, broken for you. You will also want to have grape juice or some other juice or beverage to remind you of the blood of Jesus which was shed for you.

Traditionally, red is a good color to wear for Pentecost, representing the flames of the Holy Spirit. As you prepare for Sunday worship this week, you may wish to wear something red.
